Governance: The Academy is governed by the Isle of Wight County Educational Foundation, which is run by a Board of Directors made up of 14 members. Day to day administration is left to the headmaster, the assistant headmasters of both the lower and middle schools, and the Dean of Students, who is responsible for the upper school
Areas currently served by Isle of Wight Academy: Bus service is offered to the areas of Isle of Wight County (including the towns of Smithfield and Windsor and the areas of Carrsville, Zuni, Battery Park, Rescue, and Carrollton), Surry County, Southampton County, Sussex County, the City of Suffolk, the City of Franklin, the City of Chesapeake, and the City of Portsmouth along presently established routes at no additional cost to Academy patrons, a service not frequently offered at no expense by most private schools
Facilities: Administration building; Pre-school classrooms; Lower School Building; Middle School Building; Upper School Building; Library Wing; fully functional science lab; two computer labs; three playgrounds; Edward C. Jester Gymnasium with stage for assemblies and performances; Original Gymnasium for lower school physical education classes and athletic practices; and music and art rooms all located on a spacious 30 acre campus in the heart of rural Isle of Wight County
Professional and Athletic Memberships: Association of Virginia Academies (AVA), Metropolitan Assocation of Schools (MAS), Metro Athletic Conference (MAC), and Virginia Commonwealth Conference (VCC)
Curriculum: College prepratory, with vocational subjects such as computer, drafting, and the fine arts offered on an elective basis. Enrichment courses, such as art, music/band, world studies, study skills, physical education, and library, are offered to all students in kindergarten through seventh grade. The Academy enjoys nearly 100% college acceptance for its graduates at prestigious schools throughout the state and country

Athletics: IWA competes in both the Metro Athletic Conference (MAC) and the Virginia Commonwealth Conference (VCC) and is a member of Virginia Independent Schools, an organization which facilitates state championship competition. IWA offers a complete athletic program with many students receiving athletic scholarships over the years. Sports offered include:
Fall: JV and Varsity Football; JV and Varsity Girls Volleyball; and JV and Varsity Cheerleading
Winter: JJV, JV, and Varsity Boys Basketball; JJV, JV, and Varsity Girls Basketball; and JV and Varsity Cheerleading (cheering competition held during winter season)
Spring: JV and Varsity Softball; JV and Varsity Baseball; Varsity Golf; and Varsity Soccer
In addition to interscholastic sports, IWA offers a program of intramural athletic competition for its younger students. This program consists of Saturday Morning Basketball and a majorette program.
